Nifty likely to open higher 1-NOV-2018


Indian Indices:                           Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, a rise of 35.5 points or 0.34 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 11,422-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

Global Market:
·       Asian markets: Asian markets are higher today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares show gains. The Nikkei 225 is up 0.78% while the Hang Seng is up 1.58%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.
·       US Markets: Stock market turns negative amid report that U.S. set to impose tariffs on all remaining Chinese imports.
·       European markets: European markets closed sharply higher today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is up 2.31% while Germany's DAX is up 1.42% and London's FTSE 100 is up 1.31%.

MARKET WRAP UP 31-OCT-2018


Closing Bell: Sensex ends 550 points higher, Nifty closes at 10,386; midcaps up 2%.

Wednesday’s session has ended on a strong note, with the Sensex soaring over 500 points, while the Nifty closed above 10,350-mark. A strong surge in financials along with IT names were responsible for pushing the indices higher.
Pharmaceuticals joined the bandwagon as well and a combination of all these factors boosted the market.
Automobiles, consumption, infrastructure, and PSU banks were the other big gainers. In the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap index rose around 2 percent.
At the close of market hours, the Sensex ended up 550.92 points or 1.63% at 34,442.05, while the Nifty was higher by 188.20 points or 1.85% at 10,386.60. The market breadth is positive as 1,593 shares advanced, 946 shares declined, while 1,114 shares were unchanged.


HEADLINES OF THE DAY


MOIL Q2 result: Its net profit rose 13.4 percent at Rs 105.1 crore against Rs 92.7 crore, revenue rose 24.8 percent at Rs 357.8 crore against Rs 286.7 crore, YoY.
Lupin Q2 result: Consolidated net profit down 41.5 percent at Rs 265 crore against Rs 455 crore. Revenue was unchanged at Rs 3,951 crore, YoY.
Rupee Recovers: Indian rupee has recovered from the day's low of 74.14. It is trading lower by 20 paise 73.88 per dollar, after a weak opening at 73.92.
Balrampur Chini Q2 result: Company's Q2 net profit was up 10.4 percent at Rs 90.9 crore against Rs 82.4 crore. Revenue was down 17.9 percent at Rs 1,015 crore versus Rs 1,236.8 crore, YoY.
FMCG major, Dabur India, reported a net profit of Rs 377.5 crore for the September quarter, a rise of 4.1 percent as compared to Rs 363 crore posted by the firm during the same period of last year.

PNB Housing Finance surges 9% after raising Rs2,450cr through commercial papers
Shares of PNB Housing Finance, one of the country’s largest housing finance company, surged over 9% in late afternoon trade on Wednesday after the company successfully raised Rs2, 450cr through the issue of commercial papers. This amount is over and above the Rs1, 775cr raised earlier.
Thus, in total, the company has raised a whopping Rs4, 225cr through commercial papers (CPs) in October 2018 alone. Incidentally, the CPs were placed with various mutual funds and banks.

Dr.Reddy’s announces launch of Strattera in US
Dr.Reddy's Laboratories on Wednesday announced the launch of Atomoxetine Capsules, USP, a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Strattera® (atomoxetine) Capsules in the United States market. The capsules have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).
The Strattera® brand and its generic had sales of approximately $304mn for the twelve months ending August 2018 in the US, according to IMS Health. Straterra® is a registered trademark of Eli Lilly and Company.

Government to raise Rs5,000cr by divesting 3% stake in Coal India
The government will divest 3% stake in Coal India for Rs266/share through the offer for sale (OFS) route on October 31, 2018, which will fetch ~Rs5,000cr, according to media reports.
The government currently has 78.3% shareholding in Coal India. The government will offer an additional 6% stake in case of over-subscription, sources said.
The floor price of Rs266/share is at a discount of about 4% over yesterday's closing price of the stock on the NSE.

Cummins India climbs 12% post Q2FY19 numbers
Shares of Cummins India were trading 12% higher in the late morning session today as the company’s performance numbers for Q2FY19 beat market estimates.
The company’s Q2FY19 numbers strongly beat consensus estimates across the broader performance criteria. Revenue from operations witnessed a strong growth of 28.9% yoy to Rs1,486.9cr, beating street estimates by 16%. EBITDA for the quarter jumped 49.8% yoy to Rs250.9cr, surpassing estimates by 24.2%. The EBITDA margin also expanded by 236bps yoy to 16.9%. Net profit surged 38.4% yoy to Rs211.5cr in Q2FY19 vs. Rs152.9cr in Q2FY18, beating street estimates by 21.8%.

Tech Mahindra up ~7% as Q2 results beat estimates
IT service provider Tech Mahindra surged ~7% in late morning trade on Wednesday after the company reported a better-than-estimated result for Q2FY19.
The company has registered an 18.5% qoq increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs1,064cr in the quarter ended September 2018. Further, the Pune-headquartered company’s revenues grew 4.3% qoq to Rs8,630cr against the median consensus estimate of Rs8,614cr.

 Jubilant FoodWorks announces PepsiCo as new beverage partner for Domino's Pizza
Shares of Jubilant FoodWorks dropped ~2.5% on Tuesday afternoon as the company announced Pepsico as its new beverage partner for Domino's.
As part of the partnership, all Pepsico beverages, i.e., Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7UP, and Miranda will be sold across all Domino’s restaurants in India, as per a BSE filing released on Tuesday afternoon.
The move signifies the end of the relationship with Coca Cola, which was JFL’s exclusive beverage partner for 20 years.

CESC trades down 20% after going ex-date for demerger
CESC is currently trading down 20% after going ex-date for the company’s demerger. The company has demerged its retail business (Spencers) and CESC Ventures. The three, new demerged entities are CESC (Power Distribution & Generation), Spencer (Retail) and CESC Ventures.
CESC shareholders would receive six shares (of face value Rs5) of the retail entity (Spencers) and two shares (Rs10 FV) of CESC ventures for every 10 shares of CESC held. The company has stated that it intends to demerge the power business further, separating the generation and distribution segments.

Union Bank of India stock zooms on reporting profit for Q2FY19
Shares of Union Bank of India zoomed 8% on the NSE during afternoon trade. The bank’s Q2FY19 revenue came in flat qoq at Rs9,438cr.
Its NII came in at Rs2,493cr, which has increased by 7.4% yoy. The bank, for Q2FY19, has reported a net profit of Rs139.3cr as against a loss of Rs1,530.7cr yoy.
The net profit was in-line with consensus estimates due to higher NII. Its GNPA for Q2FY19 stood at 15.74% against 16% qoq, a decline of 26bps. NNPA for the quarter came in at 8.42% against 8.71% qoq, a decrease of 29bps.

Jet Airways gains 6% on reports of Delta Air to buy stake
Shares of Jet Airways were trading 6% higher in noon trade on Tuesday after a media report said that Delta Air is mulling to buy a stake in the cash-strapped airline operator. Further, the company refuting media reports of defaulting on lease rentals' payment also lent support to its shares.
According to media reports, the Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is likely to buy Etihad Airlines' 24% stake in Jet Airways. The UAE-based Etihad had acquired a minority stake in Jet Airways in 2012 for about $379mn.

Glenmark Pharma gets USFDA nod for Fluocinolone Acetonide
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA (Glenmark) has been granted final approval by the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Fluocinolone Acetonide Topical Oil, 0.01% (Scalp Oil), a generic version of Derma-Smoothe/FS Topical Oil, 0.01% (Scalp Oil), of Hill Dermaceuticals, Inc.
According to IQVIATM sales data for the 12-month period ending September 2018, the Derma-Smoothe/FS Topical Oil, 0.01% (Scalp Oil) market2 achieved annual sales of approximately $14mn
Glenmark’s current portfolio consists of 141 products authorized for distribution in the US marketplace and 58 ANDAs pending approval with the USFDA. In addition to these internal filings, Glenmark continues to identify and explore external development partnerships to supplement and accelerate the growth of its existing pipeline and portfolio.

Closing Bell: Sensex ends 176 points lower, Nifty just below 10,200; midcaps outperform.

It’s a negative close for the market and the Nifty has managed to close below 10,200-mark. 
At the close of market hours, the Sensex is down 176.27 points or 0.52% at 33891.13, while the Nifty is lower by 52.50 points or 0.51% at 10198.40. The market breadth is narrow as 1,472 shares advanced, against a decline of 1,066 shares, while 1,104 shares were unchanged.
Infosys, State Bank of India, Tech Mahindra and Zee Entertainment are the top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Coal India, and HPCL have lost the most.
