It was party time on D-Street as markets rocked on a
memorable day. Indian equity markets on Friday achieved their lifetime highs,
with NSE Nifty touching its life-time intra-day high of 9605 and BSE Sensex
scaling to its all-time intra-day high of 31074. Nifty was able to sustain the
crucial level of 9500, while Sensex crossed the 31000-mark in intra-day trade.
At the closing bell, Nifty ended at 9595 with a gain of 85
points and BSE Sensex closed at 31028, higher by 278 points. On the NSE, 1152
scrips closed in the green, 346 scrips ended the day in red, whereas 42 scrips
remained unchanged.
All indices closed in the green, except BSE Healthcare which
lost 104 points. BSE Metal increased 375 points, BSE Auto rose 313 points. BSE
Oil & Gas went up by 288 points. Mid-cap index was up by 292 points and
Small-cap also gained 237 points.
Next week ahead:
Among stock specific activity, BPCL, Coal India, NTPC,
L&T, Power Finance Corporation and Power Grid Corporation of India will
announce their Q4 results on Monday. Hindalco Industries and Mahindra &
Mahindra unveil Q4 results on Tuesday.
Aviation stocks will also be in focus as PSU OMCs will
revise jet fuel prices towards the closing of this month. Aviation turbine fuel
or jet fuel constitutes more than 50% of operating cost for airliners. Prices
of jet fuel are directly linked to crude oil prices.
On the macro front, the government will announce data on Q4
March 2017 gross domestic product (GDP) on Wednesday
