Vedanta slips on buzz SC to hear Tamil Nadu's appeal against NGT order

The stock had hit a high of Rs 195 in intraday. The stock had hit a low of Rs 187.65 during the day, which is also a 52-week low for the counter. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 355.70 on 29 January 2018. According to reports, the Supreme Court on Thursday, 3 January 2019, agreed to hear on 8 January 2019 Tamil Nadu governments appeal against the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to reopen Vedanta Sterlite copper plant at Tuticorin.

Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd gains for fifth session

Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd is up for a fifth straight session in a row. The stock is quoting at Rs 440.45, up 0.09% on the day as on 12:44 IST on the NSE. Meanwhile, Nifty Pharma index of which Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd is a constituent has dropped around 3.24% in last one month and is currently quoting at 8839.95, down 0.78% on the day. The volume in the stock stood at 57.12 lakh shares today, compared to the daily average of 172.98 lakh shares in last one month.

Dena Bank leads losers in A group

Dena Bank lost 19.22% to Rs 14.5 at 14:48 IST. The stock was the biggest loser in the BSEs A group.On the BSE, 25.14 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 2.3 lakh shares in the past month. Vijaya Bank crashed 6.66% to Rs 47.65. The stock was the second biggest loser in A group. On the BSE, 3.12 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 1.05 lakh shares in the past month.

Volumes jump at Dena Bank counter

Dena Bank saw the volume of 260.58 lakh shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 13.3 fold spurt over a two-week average daily volume of 19.59 lakh shares. The stock dropped 18.72% to Rs.14.55. Volumes stood at 30.6 lakh shares in the last session.ITD Cementation India Ltd saw the volume of 8.28 lakh shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 10.44 fold spurt over the two-week average daily volume of 79257 shares. The stock increased 0.98% to Rs.113.65. Volumes stood at 2.86 lakh shares in the last session. Hatsun Agro Product Ltd saw the volume of 66119 shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 9.65 fold spurt over a two-week average daily volume of 6854 shares. The stock increased 6.37% to Rs.671.60. Volumes stood at 13487 shares in the last session.

MARKET WRAP UP 28-DEC-2018



Closing Bell: Nifty kicks off January series above 10,850; Sensex up 269 pts; Nifty Pharma surges.

Its a consecutive session of positive close for the market on Friday. The Nifty has kicked off January series on a strong note, ending above 10,850-mark. 
Strong global cues, weaker crude as well as strengthening rupee were some of the primary factors behind the markets rally.  At the close of market hours, the Sensex was up 269.44 points or 0.75% at 36076.72, while the Nifty was higher by 80.10 points or 0.74% at 10859.90. The market breadth was narrow as 1546 shares advanced, against a decline of 1049 shares, while 163 shares were unchanged. Sun Pharma, Vedanta, and Titan were the top gainers, while Coal India, TCS, and Bharti Infratel lost the most.


HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Multiplex chain operator PVR said it is planning to raise up to Rs 750 crore through issue of securities to qualified institutional buyers, for which it is seeking shareholders' nod.
Tata Steel BSL (earlier known as Bhushan Steel) shares rallied nearly 7 per cent intraday after CARE assigned AA rating for company's bank facilities.
Shree Cement gained half a per cent after CARE reaffirmed its rating as A1+ for company's commercial paper worth Rs 600 crore. Kansai Nerolac Paints shares gained a per cent intraday after the acquisition of construction chemical company.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that 11 PSU banks have identified 55 foreign operations for rationalization and closure in this fiscal, according to a CNBC-TV18 report. HDFC Bank shares gained 1.5 per cent in the morning after research house Emkay has maintained its buy call on the stock and expects to gain 18 per cent to its price target to Rs 2,500 apiece.


The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 10960 and above this 11100 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 10720 next support will be 10550.

Piramal Enterprises mulls selling of pharma biz
Piramal Enterprises gained 3% on Tuesday after media reports said that the company is mulling sale of its contract pharmaceutical operations, which may fetch the company $1bn.
As per reports, Ajay Piramal, Chairman of the Piramal Group, is working with advisers to weigh interest in its contract development and manufacturing organization, Piramal Pharma Solutions. The company has already shared preliminary marketing materials with potential buyers.

ICICI Bank gains on RBI's approval of Sandeep Bakshi's appointment as MD & CEO
Shares of ICICI Bank were trading higher by 2.75% in Tuesday's session after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the appointment of Sandeep Bakhshi as MD & CEO of the bank.
The bank, in its BSE filing on Tuesday, stated that the RBI had approved the appointment of Sandeep Bakhshi as Managing Director & CEO of the bank for three years effective from October 15, 2018.

Alembic receives tentative USFDA approval for gNesina
Alembic Pharma has said that it has received tentative USFDA approval for its Alogliptin tablets, 6.25mg/12.5mg/25mg. Alogliptin is therapeutically equivalent to Takeda’s Nesina.
Alogliptin tablets are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus.
The USFDA approved Nesina in January 2013 and has seen a slower start after the launch. The drug was estimated to reach peak sales of ~$2.6bn by 2016 but has not even reached $100mn in the fifth year since its launch. According to IQVIA data, Nesina tablets had a market size of ~$65.6mn in CY2017.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala raises stake in DHFL
Taking advantage of the ~60% drop in Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd's (DHFL) stock late last month, seasoned investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala raised his stake in the financial services company by 0.4%. With this, the ace investor now holds a 3.19% stake in the troubled housing finance company.
DHFL has been in the news recently after the company's shares plummeted on September 21, 2018, after its debt securities were reportedly sold at a higher yield. This had caused widespread panic in the market, especially on the back of the IL&FS meltdown, and led to a massive sell-off in DHFL stock.

Mukesh’s Reliance to buy stake in Hathway Cable, DEN Networks
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries (RIL) is all set to buy stake in Hathway Cable and Datacom and DEN Networks, as per an ET report.
RIL is investing in two of India’s largest cable TV and broadband service providers to fulfill its vision of ramping up coverage in its ambitious high-speed broadband network. The news reports added that RIL will probably acquire close to 25% in each of the boards allowing it to get a seat on the board and influence management decisions. What’s more, on the back of these developments, promoter stake in both firms are likely to drop which could lead to open offers.

MARKET WRAP UP 16-OCT-2018


Closing Bell: Sensex rises nearly 300 pts, Nifty tad below 10,600; RIL, ICICI, HDFC lead.

Benchmark indices closed sharply higher on Tuesday with the Sensex gaining nearly 300 points as all sectoral indices ended in the green despite mixed global cues. The fall crude oil prices and rupee appreciation also boosted sentiment.
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 297.38 points to 35,162.48 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 72.30 points at 10,584.80.
Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, HDFC, M&M, SBI, Adani Ports, Axis Bank, ONGC and TCS were leading contributors to Nifty's gains while HDFC Bank, Infosys, Indiabulls Housing, JSW Steel, Eicher Motors and Maruti Suzuki fell.
Nifty Midcap index gained 1.5 percent with strong advance:decline ratio of 3:1.
South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Jet Airways, InterGlobe Aviation, MCX, SpiceJet, Escorts, Tata Elxsi and NIIT Technologies rallied 3-16 percent while Dewan Housing, Repco Home Finance, Motherson Sumi, Dish TV, Tata Communications, United Breweries and Castrol closed lower.
