RBI's deadline for Kotak promoter stake dilution today

Shares of Kotak Bank ended ~1% higher on Monday with the Reserve Bank of Indias (RBI) deadline to reduce promoter stake in the bank being today. As per the central bank's guidelines for new banks, Kotak Mahindra Bank was required to bring down promoter holding to 20% by December 31, 2018. Besides, the RBI requires the shareholding to fall to 15% by 2020 to reduce the promoters control over the bank, media reports said.

Marico slips on report Govt hikes MSP for Copra

Shares of Marico are trading lower by 1% on the BSE in the last hour of trading session amid media reports that the Cabinet has approved a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) for Copra by more than Rs2,000 per quintal for the 2019 season. The stock is among the top losers on the BSE FMCG index.
The cabinet increased the MSP for copra, which accounts for 40-50% of Marico's material costs, by Rs2,000 per quintal for 2019. The MSP of Copra has been increased from Rs7,511 per quintal to Rs9,521, reports added.

BHEL wins Rs3,500cr order for 660MW thermal power plant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a major order for setting up a 660MW supercritical thermal power plant in West Bengal valued at ~Rs3,500cr. The order for setting up the 1x660MW Sagardighi Thermal Power Project Extension Unit-5 at Manigram village in Murshidabad district of West Bengal has been placed on BHEL by West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL).

Cadila Healthcare gains 1% as USFDA grants approval for Acne Gel

Shares of Cadila Healthcare were trading 1% higher on Monday as the company received approval from the USFDA to market Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide Gel.
The combination medication is used to treat a certain type of acne (inflammatory acne vulgaris), the company said in a press note to the exchanges on Saturday. Cadila will manufacture this gel at the groups topical manufacturing facility at Ahmedabad.

Reliance Industries acquires Kanoda energy systems

Investments and Holdings Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has entered into a binding agreement with Kanoda Energy Systems Private Limited ("KESL") for the acquisition of equity shares for a cash consideration not exceeding Rs75cr.
The said investment upon completion will translate into 88% equity stake in KESL on a fully diluted basis. The complete acquisition is likely to be completed by March 2020.
The investment will assist in the Reliance's initiatives to use renewable energy sources.

L&T Construction wins orders worth Rs2,084cr

The construction arm of L&T has won orders worth Rs2,084cr.
The Power Transmission and Distribution Business of L&T Construction has secured EPC orders worth Rs2,084cr, as per BSE filing. On the international front, the business has won a major order in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the construction of 115kV Substations with associated transmission lines and cable circuits, the filing added.

Another order for 132kV cable works for a Substation has also been awarded in Dubai, UAE.

MARKET WRAP UP 21-DEC-2018


Closing Bell: Sensex plunges nearly 700 pts, Nifty below 10,800 amid global weakness.

Benchmark indices fell sharply on Friday, tracking the sharp correction in global peers after the threat of a US government shutdown and of further hikes in US borrowing costs.
The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 689.60 points or 1.89 percent to 35,742.07 and the 50-share NSE Nifty plunged 197.70 points or 1.81 percent to 10,754.
IOC, UPL, Adani Ports, Maruti Suzuki and Indiabulls Housing were top losers among Nifty50 stocks, which fell 3.5-4.5 percent.
HPCL, BPCL, Coal India and NTPC were only gainers, up 1-2 per cent.
About two shares declined for every share rising on the BSE.
Shriram Transport, Cummins, NBCC, Ramco Cements, CES, L&T Finance Holdings, Manappuram Finance, Bharat Forge, MRPL, Karnataka Bank, Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and Yes Bank were down 1-5 percent.

Voltas under pressure: Voltas shares declined 1.5 percent in morning on Friday after Motilal Oswal cut its earnings estimates for current as well as next financial year.

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 10880 and above this 10960 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 10620 next support will be 10500.

Nifty likely to open lower 06-DEC-2018



Indian Indices:                           Trends on SGX Nifty indicate that the index will open 87.50 points or 0.81 per cent lower in India.

Global Market:
·       Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 1.84% while the Hang Seng is down 2.78%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.
·       US Markets: Market sell-off set to continue as Dow futures get hit.
·       European markets: European markets finished sharply lower today with shares in London leading the region. The FTSE 100 is down 1.44% while France's CAC 40 is off 1.36% and Germany's DAX is lower by 1.19%.


·       Major Headlines of the day:

·       OPEC, Russia move closer to cutting oil output.
·       OPEC meets on Thursday in Vienna, followed by talks with allies such as Russia on Friday. OPEC's de facto leader, Saudi Arabia, has indicated a need for steep output reductions from January, fearing a glut, but Russia has resisted a large cut.


·         Trend in FII flows:The FIIs were Net Value of Rs  -357.82 segment while the DIIs were Net Value of  -791.59 the provisional figures.

Alembic Pharma subsidiary gets USFDA nod for Glycopyrrolate tablets
Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Alembic), in a release to the exchanges on Tuesday, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Orit Laboratories LLC has received approval from the USFDA for its ANDA Glycopyrrolate tablets USP, 1 mg and 2 mg.
According to IQVIA, Glycopyrrolate Tablets USP, 1 mg and 2 mg, had an estimated market size of $15mn to the twelve months ending December 2017.
Alembic has a cumulative total of 81 ANDA approvals (68 final approvals and 13 tentative approvals) from the USFDA.

Govt not to participate in LIC’s open offer
The government will not participate in Life Insurance Corporation’s (LIC) open offer to acquire a 51% controlling stake in IDBI Bank, the bank said in a press note the exchange on Tuesday.
"IDBI Bank is in a receipt of letter dated December 03, 2018, from the Government of India confirming that it will not participate in the open offer made by LIC," said the lender in a press note.

Domestic flat steel prices likely to face temporary pressures from cheaper imports
Expectations of lenient production curbs in China during the winter months, and rising steel output amidst a seasonal moderation in demand have led to a steep correction in Chinese steel prices in November 2018. According to a recent ICRA research report, the threat of cheaper flat steel imports to India in the near term has increased and, as a result, domestic flat steel producers may have to brace for a downward revision in prices, especially in Q4FY19.

NCC receives orders worth Rs220.2cr
NCC has received two orders worth Rs220.2cr in its various business segments, the company said in a press note to the exchanges on Monday after market hours.
Of the total, an order worth Rs174.2cr received by Electrical Division, while another order of Rs46cr pertains to Water Division. These orders are received from state government agencies and do not include any internal orders, the company said in a press note. NCC share price is currently at Rs88.55, up by Rs1.25 or 1.43% from its previous closing of Rs87.30 on the BSE.

GAIL to challenge CESTAT Delhi’s order
GAIL, the natural gas processing and distribution company, is all set to challenge Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) Delhi bench’s order of demand notice worth Rs2,822cr at higher forum.
"The company is of the view that the order passed by the CESTAT Delhi is not sustainable considering the merit of the case and well-reasoned order passed by the commissioner, while adjudicating the Special Centre for Nanoscience (SCNS). The company is going to challenge the order at higher forum and is confident of favorable outcome in this matter,” said the company in a press note to the exchanges on Monday after market hours.
