MARKET WRAP UP 07-JAN-2019


Closing Bell: Equity benchmarks have ended the day on a positive note, though off their high points. The Nifty closed below 10,800-mark.
All, but three, sectors ended the session on a green note. Metals, pharmaceuticals as well as PSU banks ended the day in the red. The Nifty Midcap index closed around flat line. 
At the close of market hours, the Sensex was up 155.06 points or 0.43% at 35850.16, while the Nifty was higher by 44.40 points or 0.41% at 10771.80. The market breadth was negative as 1292 shares advanced, against a decline of 1310 shares, while 172 shares were unchanged.
Axis Bank, Tata Motors, and Bharti Infratel gained the most, while Bajaj Auto, Yes Bank, and Indiabulls Housing were the top losers.



HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Tata Motors is in focus as its JLR UK sales have grown 7 percent at 6,625 units against 6,195 units last year.  Essar Global has repaid Rs 6300 crore to ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and StanChart
The rupee has erased most of its morning gains and is trading at 69.69 per US dollar. 
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), having changed management last month following a clash with the government, is likely to transfer an interim dividend of 300-400 billion rupees ($4.32 billion-$5.8 billion) to the government by March, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the matter.
Tata Consultancy Services has acquired select company assets of BridgePoint Group.

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 10840 and above this 10960 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 10660 next support will be 10530.

Nifty likely to open lower 21-DEC-2018


Indian Indices: Nifty futures on Singaporean exchange are trading lower, mirroring the subdued sentiment as Wall Street witnessed selling pressure. This weighed on other Asian indices as well. The futures were trading at 10,970, a fall of 23 points on SGX Nifty.

Global Market:
Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 1.78% while the Hang Seng is down 0.45%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.
US Markets: Stock market sell-off continues as U.S. government shutdown looms.
European markets: European markets finished broadly lower today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is down 1.78% while Germany's DAX is off 1.44% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 0.80%.

Dr Reddys Laboratories: Aquestive and Indivior said they would file a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for hearing on the ruling to vacate the preliminary injunction that enjoined Dr. Reddys from launching its generic buprenorphine/naloxone sublingual film.

Punjab National Bank: CRISIL downgraded the ratings on various bonds of PNB to CRISIL AA+/CRISIL AA- from CRISIL AAA/CRISIL AA. Separately it has changed the outlook to  Stable from 'Rating Watch with Negative Implications'.  Bharti Airtel board approved the sale of up to 59.12 crore equity shares, representing 32 per cent stake of Bharti Infratel owned by the company to its arm Nettle Infrastructure Investments. After the deal, Bharti Airtel will own 18.33 per cent stake in its Infratel arm and Nettle Infrastructure Investments and the public will hold 35.18 per cent and 46.49 per cent, respectively. Infosys appointed Nilanjan Roy as company Chief Financial Officer with effect from March 1 2019, while Jayesh Sanghrajka will be the deputy CFO, from the same date. The tech company arm and Qatar National Bank also announced the implementation of digital banking solutions for the bank. NHPC said 520 MW power station in Himachal Pradesh would be under complete shutdown from three months with effect from Dec. 20 for repair and maintenance work. Bosch said it will close Karnataka Bidadi Plant from Dec. 28-29 due to a reduction in volumes seen, as a result of a decline in the customerâ requirement. The company said that there will be no financial impact on account of the proposed suspension of operations.

Power Finance Corporation board approved the proposal to buy Government of India entire shareholding in REC.
 Entertainment Network (India) said due to a fire breakout at Common Transmission Infrastructure at Mumbai, terrestrial broadcasting has been disrupted at the company Mumbai radio station and other private broadcasters in Mumbai.

Coal India said it would pay an interim dividend of Rs 7.25 per share aggregating to Rs 4,500 crore to its shareholders with an implied dividend yield of 3 percent. The company has fixed Dec. 31 as the record date.
 Indian Hume Pipe received letter of acceptance for constructions of drinking water supply projects worth Rs 502.89 crore in Andhra Pradesh for the state water supply corporation. The project will be completed within 24 months. Indiabulls Real Estate entered into an agreement with Blackstone to divest up to 50 per cent stake in two office assets in Gurugram at an aggregate value of Rs 464 crore. HT Media board approved to acquire a 25 percent stake in Next Mediaworks promoters for Rs 45.15 crore and to additionally acquire 26 per cent stake, by triggering an open offer to the public shareholders. The board also gave nod to acquire 48.6 per cent stake in Next Radio.
JSW Steel said it would infuse Rs 63.5 crore in Vardhaman Industries to pay the creditors as per the Resolution Plan by NCLT. The entire shareholding of Vardhaman Industries will be reduced by way of capital reduction and it will be delisted. Artemis Global Lifesciences received NCLT direction to conduct meetings with shareholder and creditors on Jan. 27 for the amalgamation of the company and its three arms.
CARE Ratings received the SEBI notice for the conduct of adjudication proceedings in relation to credit ratings assigned to Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd. and one of its subsidiaries. Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services sought expression of interests for monetization of education business and Alternative Investment Fund management business. AIF business manages assets worth Rs 13,340 crore.
 Escorts Group increased its stake in Optunia Power Infrastructure from 49 per cent to 99 per cent, by acquiring 2.94 crore shares at face value of Rs 10 per share. Mercator sold vessel for $7.6 million and said that proceeds of this sale would be used to reduce debt and liabilities.

Time Technoplast received power cable-ducts orders worth Rs 150 crore from various EPC Contractors.
Mayur Uniquoters CFO Manish Kumar Dwivedi resigned from his post with effect from Dec. 19.
Tata Consultancy Services implemented payments operations solutions for Japan-based-MUFG Bank.
HCL Technologies partnered with Israel based Cloudify to bring 5G network solutions to telecom providers.
Infibeam Avenues and IBM India executed the agreement to develop, implement and promote blockchain applications to Indian clients on Linux platform.  Dhanuka Agritech board determined buy-back of 13.12 per cent of equity share capital at a price of Rs 550 per share aggregating to Rs 82.5 crore. Borosil Glass Works board approved winding up of Dubai arm Borosil Afrasia FZE...

Nifty likely to open lower 18-DEC-2018


Indian Indices:                           A move above 10,950 can be a new uptrend for nifty.

Global Market:
·       Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 1.23% while the Hang Seng is down 0.91%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.
·       US Markets: Dow falls another 500 points, extending worst start to a December in 38 years.
·       European markets: European markets finished broadly lower today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is down 1.11% while London's FTSE 100 is off 1.05% and Germany's DAX is lower by 0.86%.

·       Karnataka State Pollution Control Board renewed the consent to operate for Graphite India’s electrode plant in Bengaluru for a period up to June 30, 2020 only with the condition to shift the unit from the existing location. The company said that this condition will not have adverse impact on the production capacity of the graphite electrode division in the medium term and long-term horizon.
·       Tata Steel and ThyssenKrupp AG’s European joint venture will be headed by the latter’s steel division chief Andreas Goss, who will also chair the management board. Hans Fischer, the current chief executive officer of Tata Steel Europe, will be the deputy chief executive officer and chief technology officer of the new entity. It also announced the elevation of Tata Steel’s Group Executive Vice President Sandip Biswas as the designated chief financial officer, and the ThyssenKrupp's steel business’ Chief Financial Officer Premal Desai as the chief strategy officer of the new partnership which will be headquartered in Amsterdam.
·       Tata Motors-Jaguar Land Rover hired Boston Consulting Group for $3.2 billion turnaround plan, the spokesperson of JLR worker’s representative body Unite Union said. He added that the workers had not been informed of any job reductions in January next year and do not expect any, as they have to be given at least 45 days of notice. (Bloomberg News)
·       Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company’s board approved closure of loss-making Indonesian arm from Dec. 31.
·       Sadbhav Infrastructure and its parent company Sadbhav Engineering arrived at an amicable settlement with Montecarlo Limited with the help of settlement of litigation. Both, NCLT and Gujarat High Court, disposed the matter and accordingly the legal matters now stands closed.
·       Jet Airways said that as per directions of State Bank of India, forensic audit of specific transactions of the company for the period of April 2014 to March 2018 was already in progress and the aviation company is co-operating fully with auditors and providing them all the information.
·       Ashoka Buildcon board approved to raise Rs 150 crore via non-convertible debentures. Company’s arm also raised Rs 150 crore from Morgan Stanley India Infrastructure for city gas distribution.
·       NMDC revised prices of lump ore at Rs 3,250 per ton and fines ore at Rs 2,860 per month with effect from Dec. 13.
·       IL&FS said it was looking to sell 22 assets and businesses in its domestic roads vertical to seek expressions of interest for road projects. The company appointed Arpwood Capital and JM Financial as financial and transaction advisers. Alvarez & Marsal to act as resolution consultants.
·       Punjab & Sind Bank revised its MCLR across various tenors. One month MCLR is at 8.2 percent and one year MCLR at 8.85 percent..

MARKET WRAP UP 14-DEC-2018




Closing Bell: Indices end on a flat note after rangebound trade; Nifty above 10,800, Bharti Airtel up 5%.

Benchmark indices ended positive but remained flat throughout the day with Nifty close just above 10,800 mark.
At the end, Sensex was up 33.29 points at 35962.93, while Nifty was up 14 points at 10805.50. About 1249 shares have advanced, 1287 shares declined, and 145 shares are unchanged. 
Bharti Airtel, Yes Bank, ONGC, NTPC and Asian Paints are the top gainers on the Sensex, while losers are HDFC, Wipro, L&T, Adani Ports and Bajaj Auto.
Among sectors, except pharma and metal all other sectoral indices ended in green, while midcap and smallcap stocks ended flat.

Anti-dumping Duty Likely On Chinese Chemical
The government may impose anti-dumping duty for five years on a Chinese chemical used in dye and photography industry in order to guard domestic players from cheap imports from the neighbouring country.
Drug firm Alembic Pharmaceuticals said it has raised Rs 350 crore through allotment of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on private placement basis.
Auto major Honda Cars India said it will increase prices of its entire model range from next month in order to partially offset the impact of rising input costs.
