Vedanta slips on buzz SC to hear Tamil Nadu's appeal against NGT order

The stock had hit a high of Rs 195 in intraday. The stock had hit a low of Rs 187.65 during the day, which is also a 52-week low for the counter. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 355.70 on 29 January 2018. According to reports, the Supreme Court on Thursday, 3 January 2019, agreed to hear on 8 January 2019 Tamil Nadu governments appeal against the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to reopen Vedanta Sterlite copper plant at Tuticorin.

Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd gains for fifth session

Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd is up for a fifth straight session in a row. The stock is quoting at Rs 440.45, up 0.09% on the day as on 12:44 IST on the NSE. Meanwhile, Nifty Pharma index of which Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd is a constituent has dropped around 3.24% in last one month and is currently quoting at 8839.95, down 0.78% on the day. The volume in the stock stood at 57.12 lakh shares today, compared to the daily average of 172.98 lakh shares in last one month.

Dena Bank leads losers in A group

Dena Bank lost 19.22% to Rs 14.5 at 14:48 IST. The stock was the biggest loser in the BSEs A group.On the BSE, 25.14 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 2.3 lakh shares in the past month. Vijaya Bank crashed 6.66% to Rs 47.65. The stock was the second biggest loser in A group. On the BSE, 3.12 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 1.05 lakh shares in the past month.

Volumes jump at Dena Bank counter

Dena Bank saw the volume of 260.58 lakh shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 13.3 fold spurt over a two-week average daily volume of 19.59 lakh shares. The stock dropped 18.72% to Rs.14.55. Volumes stood at 30.6 lakh shares in the last session.ITD Cementation India Ltd saw the volume of 8.28 lakh shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 10.44 fold spurt over the two-week average daily volume of 79257 shares. The stock increased 0.98% to Rs.113.65. Volumes stood at 2.86 lakh shares in the last session. Hatsun Agro Product Ltd saw the volume of 66119 shares by 14:14 IST on NSE, a 9.65 fold spurt over a two-week average daily volume of 6854 shares. The stock increased 6.37% to Rs.671.60. Volumes stood at 13487 shares in the last session.

Government to infuse Rs28,615cr in 7 PSU Banks

The government is likely to inject Rs28,615cr fund in seven public sector undertaking (PSU) banks, as per media reports. As per the report, the seven banks are Central Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC), and Syndicate Bank.

Accordingly, the government is likely to infuse Rs10, 086cr in Bank of India and Rs1,678cr in Central Bank of India. Similarly, United Bank of India will get a capital infusion of Rs2, 159cr, while OBC will get Rs5,500cr, the report added.

Domestic pharma cos expected to grow at a CAGR of around 8-10% between FY18-2021

ICRA has given a stable outlook on the Indian pharmaceutical industry. The headwinds from pricing pressure in large regulated markets, especially the USA, increased cost related to regulatory compliances but are largely offset by growing scale of business, increased focus on speciality/ niche segments and comfortable balance sheet structure. The domestic pharmaceutical industry has gained adequate scale and generic drug development capabilities over a decade of growth which will keep them in good stead to capture bigger opportunities in the regulated market. The FY18-21 CAGR is expected to be around 8-10% for domestic Pharmaceutical companies.

Lemon Tree Hotels surges 8% on announcing JV with Warburg Pincus

Shares of Lemon Tree Hotels surged 8% in morning trade on Friday as the company announced forming a joint venture with an affiliate of Warburg Pincus to create a co-living platform.  An affiliate of Warburg Pincus, Magnolia Grove Investment Limited, and Lemon Tree Hotels Limited will hold 68% and 30% stake, respectively in the JV (Hamstede Living Private Limited). The balance 2% will be held by Mr Patanjali Keswani, Chairman and Managing Director of Lemon Tree Hotels.

Kansai Nerolac acquires Perma Construction for Rs29cr

Kansai Nerolac Paints (KNPL) has entered into Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) to acquire 100% equity stake in Perma Construction Aids Pvt. Ltd (PCAPL) for a total consideration of Rs29.1cr. PCAPL is one of the established construction chemicals companies in India having a diverse product range encompassing water-proofing, adhesives, epoxy, admixtures, etc. It has reported turnover of Rs27.3cr, 25.4cr and Rs23.8cr for FY18, FY17 and FY16 respectively. KNPL is expanding its product portfolio in construction chemicals and the acquisition of PCAPL will add to the product offerings of KNPL in the construction chemicals business. The deal is estimated to be completed by January 28, 2019.

Dilip Buildcon executes an agreement with NHAI

Shares of Dilip Buildcon traded higher on Friday after the company executed an agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a road project worth Rs677.07cr in Uttar Pradesh.

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract has been signed for the "rehabilitation and upgradation from 2 lanes to 4 lanes of the NH stretch under NHDP-IVB for the Lalganj  Hanumanha Section of NH-7 (Pkg-3) in Uttar Pradesh," the company said in a press note to the exchanges on Friday. The work is expected to be finished in 30 months.

Ashoka Buildcon receives declaration date for NHAI project

Ashoka Buildcon in its filing to the exchanges stated that its subsidiary Ashoka Ankleshwar Manubar Expressway Private Limited has been informed that December 10 is its appointed date for the NHAI Project.
"The accepted bid project cost is Rs1, 687cr. The construction period of the project is 910 days from the appointed date, and the operation period is 15 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD)," the company added.

Government seeks Rs41,000cr recapitalization bonds for PSU Banks

As per media sources, the government is likely to make additional capital infusion in the public sector banks. As a result government is seeking Rs41, 000cr recapitalization bonds. This will be over and above the Rs1.35 lakh cr capital infusion announced by the government for the public sector banks (PSBs) in October 2017 to meet global capital risk norms called Basel III. The public sector banks (PSBs) had to raise Rs58, 000cr from the stock markets by March 2019 to meet Basel III norms. However, due to subdued market conditions, banks have been unable to raise enough funds from the markets so far. So the government is seeking for infusing additional funds to the tune of Rs41, 000cr. This will help PSU banks to meet Basel III norms and improve their credit growth.

Alembic Pharma jumps ~2.5% on successful USFDA inspection

Shares of Alembic Pharmaceuticals rose ~2.5% in Thursday morning trade as the pharma company announced a successful USFDA inspection of its Gujarat API facility. United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) has conducted an inspection at Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited API Facility located at Panelav from 17th December, 2018 to 19th December, 2018. This was a scheduled inspection and at the end of the inspection, there were zero 483s, mentioned Alembic Pharma in a press note to the exchanges.

Thomas Cook to amalgamate its three arms with itself

The Board of Directors of Thomas Cook (TCIL), on December 19, 2018, approved amalgamation of three of its subsidiary companies with itself.
This includes the following entities:
TC Forex Services Limited (100% stake of TCIL)
TC Travel Services Limited (100% stake of TCIL)
Travel Corporation (India) Limited (TCI) (100% stake of TCIL)
The inbound business of TCI to be merged into SOTC Travel Management Private Limited, which is also 100% subsidiary of TCIL
The residual business of TCI to be merged into TCIL.

Canara Bank to raise Rs3,000cr capital via bonds

Canara Bank in its filing to the exchanges informed that its board has decided to raise Rs3, 000cr capital via bonds. The announcement was made by the bank after-market hours on Wednesday. The board of the bank has decided to raise additional Tier-I capital through Basel-III compliant additional Tier-I perpetual bonds in rupee terms for an amount not exceeding Rs3, 000cr in single tranche or in multiple tranches," the bank said in a statement.

Sensex falls 239 pts, Nifty ends below 10,700; Rel Comm jumps 65%

Benchmark indices closed lower for the second consecutive session amid political turmoil in Italy.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 43.13 points to 34,906.11 and the 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 18.90 points to 10,614.40.

About 1,444 shares declined against 1,222 advancing shares on the BSE.

Nava Bharat Ventures, Info Edge, Torrent Power and Satin Creditcare gained up to 20 percent while Vakrangee, Just Dial, South Indian Bank and Adani Power fell up to 5 percent.

CRISIL stock price is locked at 20 percent upper circuit after 6.33 lakh equity shares (representing 0.9 percent of total equity) exchanged hands on the National Stock Exchange at Rs 1851.05 per share.

Hotel Leela Venture share price declined nearly 2 percent after the company reported net loss at Rs 15.8 crore.

Borosil Glass Works share price rallied 5 percent after March quarter profit shot up 66 percent year-on-year to Rs 14.8 crore.

Aban Offshore has increased its losses in the quarter ended March 2018 on the back of weak operating numbers.

Alkem Laboratories' March quarter consolidated profit fell sharply by 51.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 66.3 crore.

arksans Pharma has reported profit in the quarter ended March 2018. The company's Q4 net profit was at Rs 4.3 crore.
