SENSEX SLIPS INTO RED AS RBI KEEPS REPO RATE UNCHANGED

Indian equity shares slipped into the negative zone as the RBI keeping the repo rate unchanged at 7.75 % both the Sensex and the Nifty slipped into the red. The former was trading at 29,118.71, while the Nifty was trading at 8,793.90.
This status quo comes barely 20 days after the central bank effected a similar cut, outside the policy review cycle, from 8 per cent to 7.75 per cent on January 15.
Among BSE sectoral indices, oil & gas index gained the most by 1.72 per cent, followed by consumer durables 1.49 per cent, FMCG 1.04 per cent and PSU 0.61 per cent. On the other hand, IT index was down 0.67 per cent, healthcare 0.65 per cent, realty 0.51 per cent and banking 0.5 per cent.
Major Sensex gainers were SSLT 3.43%, ONGC 2.53%, Reliance 2.14%, Tata Motors 1.64% and Bharti Airtel 1.63%, while the top five losers were Bajaj Auto 3.31%, Axis Bank 1.82%, HDFC 1.6%, M&M 1.54% and Dr Reddy's 1.5%.
After two sessions of losses, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose over 130 points in early trade.
The 30-share index, which had lost 559.50 points in the previous two sessions, recovered by 130.79 points or 0.44 per cent to 29,253.06, with consumer durables, FMCG, oil & gas, auto and banking sector stocks leading the rise.
Similarly, the NSE index Nifty gained 26 points or 0.3 per cent to 8,823.40 in early trade.
Asian stocks gained on Tuesday as hopes for an agreement on Greece's debt situation lifted the risk appetite, while a sharp rebound in oil prices boosted commodity currencies such as the Canadian dollar and Norwegian crown.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS fell, continuing their retreat from record highs hit last week as blue-chips including Dr.Reddy's Laboratories extended falls after disappointing earnings, while caution prevailed a day before the central bank's policy review. Shares of Gabriel India dropped 4% to Rs100 on NSE post Q3FY15 results as top line disappoints; PAT below estimate. After growing at nearly 20% in H1FY2015, the top line growth for Gabriel India in Q3FY15 faltered. The revenue growth at 5.9% YoY was below our estimates. EBITDA margins for the quarter were flat sequentially at 8.0% (120BPS YoY expansion) and were in line with our estimates. Operating profit grew 25.1% YoY to Rs28.8 crore.
·Sterlite Tech announces $100,000 seed fund for broadband research
Sterlite Technologies announces $100,000 (Rs150cr) seed fund for broadband research innovation; positive for the stock.The company has also set up Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Aurangabad with the total investment of Rs55 crore.The CoE will adjoin company's 20-millon kms optical plant in Auragabad.  According to Sterlite, the CoE is the only such facility in India dedicated to research and development of fibre-optic broadband technologies. It is seeing focus of telecom operators now coming to data (internet) business which will push demand for optical fibre cable (OFC).
·M&M January 2014 auto division volumes ahead of estimates
Mahindra & Mahindra January 2014 auto division volumes ahead of estimates; tractor dispatches in-line with estimates. Mahindra & Mahindra automotive division volumes for January 2015 were down 6.5% YoY to 39,930 units. The passenger vehicle segment volumes, although down 5% YoY, grew by 8.6% of a sequential basis and were above our estimates.

·Government releases revised estimates of GDP
Government releases revised estimates of GDP with new base year. The central statistics office ( CSO) has come out with a new series of national accounts with 2011-12 as base year for computing economic growth rate. Post the revision, FY14 GDP growth stands at 6.9% (from 4.7%) and FY13 at 5.1%. This changes are done once in five years to keep pace with the changes in the economy. Henceforth, CSO will measure growth by gross value-added at basic prices, instead of by GDP at factor cost.
·GSFC to invest Rs900 cr in melamine project
GSFC plans to invest Rs900 cr in melamine project. The company will set up 40,000-MTPA melamine plant which used for making plastics, fertiliser and crockery products, which is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of FY 2017-18, at Vadodara. Positive for the company
·Bharat Forge reports strong Q3 earnings; Net Profit at 196 cr
Bharat Forge has announced the following Q3 results for the quarter ended December 31, 2014 (YoY):Net Profit  rose by 108.93% to Rs 196.34 crore Vs Rs93.97 crore (YoY).
Total Income increased by 41.91% to Rs1216.88 crore Vs Rs857.47 crore (YoY).
·Monsanto India spurts 13% as India may back GM crops
Shares of Monsanto India jumped 13% to Rs3567 hitting day’s high of Rs3767 on NSE in otherwise weak markets. The stock headed towards its biggest daily gain since September 2014. According to news reports, the government is persuading local groups to end opposition to GM crops. However in Q3FY2015 the company’s revenue and earnings were negatively impacted on back of seasonality issues.
 



SENSEX SLIP OVER 150pts, NIFTY WEAK; BHARTI, ICICI FALL 3%

The Sensex is is down 190.68 points or 0.6 percent at 28992.27.  The Nifty slips 50.20 points or 0.6 percent at 8758.70. About 1504 shares have advanced, 1152 shares declined, and 242 shares are unchanged. 
Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy's Labs and ICICI Bank are down 3 percent while Bajaj Auto and HUL are other losers in the Sensex.
Among the gainers are Hindalco, Wipro, GAIL, Sun Pharma and TCS. 
Japanese share prices fell after soft US and China economic data raised doubts over global growth prospects, while shares in two printer manufacturers tumbled after disappointing earnings. Beneficiaries from sliding oil prices in the past several months - ranging from airline companies and rubber makers to power companies -also took a big hit after oil prices posted their biggest rebound in 2-1/2 years.
Bajaj Auto slumped 2 percent after the company posted a 9 percent drop in January auto sales, the lowest in 18 months.
